MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--To ensure that all mechanisms are in place for the pilot limited face-to-face (F2F) classes here, the Marawi City Schools Division (MCSD) conducted a dry run in Angoyao Central Elementary School (CES) Sunday, February 6.

The simulation was conducted to identify shortcomings and areas of improvement in the implementation of the school’s safety protocols and learning modes.

City Schools Division Superintendent Anna Zenaida Unte-Alonto said the dry run was done in accordance with the Department of Education memorandum circular and the Bangsamoro government's Inter-Ministry Memorandum Circular for the implementation of a limited face-to-face learning modality.

During the simulation, learners were instructed to wear face masks at all times. They were also required to leave their shoes outside the classroom and wear slippers inside. Moreover, they were not allowed to roam around the school.

For unwell learners, there is a designated isolation area which the MCSD renamed into "caring area" to be more child-friendly.

Classrooms, on the other hand, were re-configured to observe physical distancing while doors and windows were opened to improve ventilation. Other health and safety protocols including directional signs and ground markings to observe physical distancing in the school premises, handwashing stations, and temperature checks at the entrance of each gate and classroom were also in place.

Similar simulation exercises were also held earlier in Mapandi Elementary School and Nanapun Elementary School, the other two schools that were given the green light to hold physical classes for one month.

Alonto said all grade levels of these three schools are allowed to conduct the in-person classes which will start on February 14.

"Dito po sa Angoyao CES, we will try na lahat ng mag-aaral natin mapasali sila sa face-to-face classes, they will only be scheduling our learners. While the rest are not in school, they will continue pa rin yung modular.Naiinterchange yung mga bata, may araw na nasa school sila, may araw na nasa bahay sila," she further said.

[Here at Angoyao CES, we will try to get all our students to join face-to-face classes, they will only be scheduling our learners. While the rest are not in school, they will still continue the modular. The children will be interchanged, there are days that they will be in school, and there are days that they will be at home.]

According to Angoyao CES Principal Cayamona Pangadapun, around 1,200 Angoyao learners will be participating in the F2F classes. Their parents also underwent an orientation on health and safety protocols that will be observed during the physical classes.

Pangadapun thanked the parents who gave permission for their children to join the simulation. She also conveyed her gratitude to the MCSD, Angoyao CES teachers, officials of Brgy. Paridi, and the city government of Marawi for the support extended to the school. (APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
