PIAGAPO, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The executive director of the Community and Family Services International has praised the improvements in the municipality of Piagapo.
During his visit to the town, Dr. Steven Muncy said Piagapo is slowly progressing contrary to what he heard that the town is poor and dangerous.
Muncy said he now sees concrete roads and tire paths built in the municipality improving access to basic social services compared to years ago when people had to walk or ride a horse or a tractor to transport their produce or avail of basic services.
"We've seen in Piagapo that a great deal of effort has been invested in improving basic services including roads for access, education, birth registration, women and development," he said.
Muncy also said Piagapo may be isolated and challenged in the beginning but it made a lot of progress in recent years as a result of transformative leadership and collaboration of people working together towards a common cause.
As such, the CFSI director lauded the efforts of the local government unit (LGU) of Piagapo for striving to improve the municipality and the people for its support of the government.
"For CFSI, we are so grateful to be allowed to be part of their community. We have made our efforts. They're small compared to your efforts. We hope they made a little bit of difference, but it is because of your work and your sense of community that these small interventions from CFSI have had the kind of impact they had," he told LGU officials and Piagapo residents in a hand over ceremony of community-based support to livelihood (CBSL) projects on Thursday, Sept. 22.
The CBSL projects included a multi-purpose center for Barangay Basak and tire paths for Barangays Bansayan, Kalungunan, and Tapucan. (APB/PIA-10 Lanao del Sur)
