MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--As part of the observance of this year’s National Peace Consciousness Month, internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in temporary shelters in Marawi have been engaged again in peace conversations spearheaded by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU).
The said dwellers are staying in Lake View Shelter in Brgy. Boganga, Dulay Transitory Shelter in Brgy. Dulay, and Rorogagus Transitory Shelter in Brgy. Rorogagus.
“Ang pinakaspirit ng activity natin is to generate ang ating [The ultimate spirit of our activity is to generate our] call for the continuous promotion ng culture of peace, healing and reconciliation,” said OPAPRU Social Healing and Peacebuilding Department Director Vanessa Pallarco.
Moreover, she emphasized that they have been centering their efforts on directly communicating with their target communities to personally see the picture of their day-to-day lives years after the firefight in the city occurred.\Pallarco said over the years, they engaged residents affected by the siege in Marawi City in 2017.
She stated that being a member of the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM), they contributed to peace and order, particularly the social cohesion, healing and reconciliation component where they magnify means of how to mend torn relationships between the people and the government.

With the agency consecutively conducting its interventions, Pallarco emphasized its unwavering commitment to advocate for peace in the province of Lanao del Sur and the country.
“Rest assured na ang OPAPRU ay kasama niyo sa journey niyo patungo sa mapayapa at masaganang komunidad at pamayamanan,” she said.
