MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Internally displaced persons (IDPs) currently living in Dulay Transitory Shelter in Brgy. Dulay here conveyed their heartfelt happiness after the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) conducted another peace conversation in their place.

IDP Noronisa Abdullah stressed that the peace conversation held by the OPAPRU is a big help to them, especially to the kids and women as they got more inspired.

She recalled that the agency has already been aiding their place ever since, such as when it distributed sacks of rice to her fellow IDPs in the transitory site.

“Maraming salamat kasi palagi nila kaming naaalala dito sa Dulay Proper. Maraming salamat,” said Abdullah.

[Thank you so much because they always remember us here in Dulay Proper. Thank you so much.]

Another IDP Macabayao Diamond also showed her joy as she once again relished a delightful time following the traumatic firefight in the city back i in 2017.

“Masaya kami na nagugrupo kami at nasasabi namin ang mga saloobin namin. Maraming salamat. Kung anuman ang naibigay niyo, masaya kami,” she said.

[We are happy to be grouped and be able to see our thoughts. Thank you so much. We are happy with whatever help you gave.]

IDP Abuaiman Nasser Dimapinto likewise expressed his thanks for all the help provided to their site.

He underscored that the peace conversation became a means for them to notify the government of their necessities.

“Ito ay napakalaking halaga sa amin sapagkat nalalaman ng ating gobyerno ang mga kailangan namin dito. Nagpapasalamat kami sa OPAPRU kasi kahit gaano kahirap ang daan paakyat dito sa amin ay nararating ninyo,” said Dimapinto.

[This is a big help to us because the government can know what we need here. We are thankful to the OPAPRU because no matter how hard it is to come here, they still arrived.]

Displaced residents hoped that such an intervention of the OPAPRU would keep going as they, accordingly, still needed the support. (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
