Marawi, LDS take part in PH's celebration of 122nd Civil Service anniversary

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The Marawi City government alongside the provincial government of Lanao del Sur, its municipal governments, and other line agencies joined the celebration of the 122nd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary as a kick-off ceremony was held at the City Hall gymnasium Thursday, September 8.

With the overarching and ten-year theme "Transforming public service in the next decade: Honing agile and future-ready servant-heroes," the commemoration paraded public servants to showcase those who have been working for the welfare of the city and the entire province.

Civil Service Commission (CSC) Lanao del Sur Field Office Director Sandrah Arnica Usman underscored the celebration as an annual convergence of government employees which highlighted their intensive efforts for society and the country in general.

“Dito niyo mararamdaman na hindi ka pala nag-iisa, na lahat ng contribution niyo sa government is being appreciated by your fellow government servants. Kung hindi man ang head mo o ang community mo, mayroong isang nakakaintindi sa iyo bilang isang public servant,” she said.

[It is here that you will feel that you are indeed not alone, that all your contributions to the government are being appreciated by your fellow government servants. If not your head or community, someone will understand you as a public servant.]

Usman conveyed that while the theme emphasized agility, government employees and officials are urged to display resilience amid this current scenario where a global health crisis persists, affecting all aspects of life.

She stated that it was a good thing they saw the willingness of the public servants to learn how to adapt to this time’s new normal, thus, their positivity that the province would recover soon from the pandemic.

“Dahan-dahan pero [Slowly but] we are moving forward. We are bouncing back and hopefully, in the succeeding years, makikita natin ang galing ng ating mga empleyado sa [we can see the skills of our employees in] Lanao del Sur,” said Usman.

Magnifying the progress of civil servants through the years, the CSC field office director further encouraged them to carry on their service founded on the right principles.

“Patatagin ang sarili. Ipagpatuloy ang tapat na pagseserbisyo sa taumbayan [Strengthen yourselves. Continue your honest service for the masses]… Make sure that you serve with integrity, professionalism, and with utmost excellence. Isipin natin na [Let us think that] it is the taxpayers who pay for our salaries so we have to provide them services na honest and clean,” said Usman.

As the anniversary is a month-long celebration, various activities have also been lined up such as a simultaneous flag-raising ceremony with “Panunumpa ng Kawani ng Gobyerno” for all government offices, Zumbayani, free basic customer service skills training, and outreach program, among others.
