MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Aiming to log an increase in the rate of vaccinated citizens in the entire province, the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) of Lanao del Sur launched the Bakunahang Bayan program to further boost the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 vaccination efforts from September 26 to 30 this year.
Such an undertaking was under the PinasLakas campaign which was previously initiated as part of the first 100 days agenda of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that targets to inoculate primary doses to 90% of the vulnerable sector, including the senior citizens.
Moreover, the same move intends to vaccinate booster doses to 50% of the eligible population.
“Ang Bakunahang n nating ito ay ang strategy natin para mas lumakas pa ang ating campaign. We have to ramp up our vaccination for COVID-19. Isa ring purpose natin dito ay para maabot din natin ang target sa 100 days PinasLakas program ng ating presidente,” said IPHO Chief Dr. Alinader Minalang.

During the week-long Bakunahang Bayan, Minalang shared that they were also implementing other strategies such as the continuous administration of vaccines to communities, and offices of government agencies and non-government organizations which still have many unvaccinated personnel.
Additionally, mass vaccination was spearheaded at the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) Division Office in Malabang town to give immunization to students, especially since the place has already commenced its face-to-face classes.
Minalang likewise bared that they are not only limiting the vaccination in fixed areas such as rural health units and hospitals, rather, they also go down to barangays and houses to deliver the jabs themselves to strongly convince their fellowmen to get immunized and to not give them a hard time traveling to vaccination centers.
“Simultaneous din at side-by-side. Pinagsasabay na natin lahat dahil gusto natin maabot agad ang ating target,” he said.

As of September 26, around 66.09% of the eligible population was already fully immunized with primary doses while 10% of the target individuals received their booster doses. (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
