MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) here underlined the critical role of the religious sector in promoting peace, stability, and progress in Lanao del Sur.
During the launching of the revitalized KASIMBAYANAN (Kapulisan, Simbahan, at Pamayanan) program on Monday, Sept. 26, MILG Provincial Director Mcmillan Lucman noted that the religious sector has the power to shape social values and influence practices.
"The religious sector, with its moral ascendancy and influence over all sectors of the society, can face and accept the challenge of serving as the guide of the people to have an exemplary performance of their duties within the boundary of moral fiber and integrity," he said.
As such, Lucman lauded the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office for launching the revitalized KASIMBAYANAN engaging the religious sector and the community as a whole.
"While the law enforcement sector intensifies the campaign against illegal drugs and other forms of criminality in Lanao del Sur province, there is indeed an urgent need to institutionalize and strengthen collaborative efforts with the religious sector and the community to maintain integrity and transparency in the conduct of police operation and administration, as well as to show unwavering commitment to the cause of human rights as we usher the province to an inclusive change and prosperous and peaceful way of life," he said.
The MILG provincial director said KASIMBAYANAN is a noble and worthy undertaking that is in full consonance with the practice of ensuring a vibrant democracy where there is respect for the rule of law. (APB/PIA-10 Lanao del Sur)
